PROGRAMME on “Adult Education for Women”
Among various Public
Welfare Service Activities, “Adult Education” is always considered to
be the most urgent in priority for upbringing the illiterate masses of
Society - in order to make them self-dependent, thoughtful and
progressive towards their future generations. It’s a burning disgrace
for us that uptil now many people of the society especially the women,
are yet to cover under minimum education programme and as a result
they are being subjected to various deprivations and ostracism by the
upper strata of the society
Literate
parents like to bring forth literate children always. In this
perspective, Ramakrishna Math, Baranagar h
as initiated the drive on
the programme for ‘Adult Education’ for the illiterate mothers of the
surrounding slum area. Class-room study for educating women is in
progress since 2007. At present there are 26 students who are
regularly attending the classes with most enthusiasm. It is also
remarkable to express that most of them are the mothers of the
children of our Non-Formal School. Mothers are expressing it as a
great opportunity for them to understand life better than before and
as a result number of learners is on the rise and we are all set to
accommodate as many as possible. Presently, two evening-classes are
conducted in a week in the convenient spare time of the mothers with the help
of two honorary lady-teachers who are on this holy duty to educate
them with utmost care.
We are extending our moral service, providing the participants with all stationery including books and tiffin at free of cost. The cost per student is around Rs. 200.00 per month (Rs. 2,400.00 per year).
We like to appeal to all the generous people to extend their kind help to this noble cause by contributing Rs. 2,400.00 to sponsor any of these under-privileged and encourage the mothers to continue their effort for survival with dignity.
